On July 19, 2024, the University of the West Indies, Mona, hosted the second stakeholder workshop for the Global Diet and Activity Research Network (GDAR) project. The workshop focused on building community resilience against climate change-related natural disasters.

Prior to the workshop, individual interviews were conducted with stakeholders from various sectors from public and private authorities, including academia, agriculture, disaster management, and philanthropic organisations. These interviews explored their perspectives on the challenges and resilience strategies related to climate risks and their impact on health in Jamaica. The insights gathered were then combined into a model representing the collective views of the stakeholders.

During the workshop, participants reviewed and discussed the model to ensure it represented their real-world experiences. These discussions also led to the exploration of new strategies for community resilience. The workshop fostered collaboration between stakeholders and the university, promoting stronger, more resilient communities. This project may also inspire improvement among authorities to encourage and create more adaptable communities against environmental changes
